AKC CGC Therapy Dog Training & Certification
This 6 week class provides training, testing and certification for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate. The CGC is a requirement for all therapy dogs. Instruction and testing is structured to meet AKC and Therapy Dog requirements.
The CGC/Therapy class is taught by an AKC Evaluator. The tuition cost is $110 for 6 weeks and includes paperwork and forms as well as CGC and Therapy Dog testing.
Students training for just the Canine Good Citizen Certificate will be tested and certified at the end of the 6 week class sesseion.
Therapy Dogs and handlers who have earned their CGC and pass the Therapy Dog Control evaluation must perform a required 10 hours of supervised Therapy visits with a certified handler. Dogs and handlers will be certified as a Therapy Team upon completion.
*Please note that dogs training for Therapy must be 1 year old at the end of the first six weeks of this session. Therapy dogs in trianing are required to attend all classes and training sessions at the scheduled times. There are no "make-ups". Please be sure you have the time to commit to this very rewarding program.
